Welcome to my Blog. I had previously started a blog on another host but somehow F$#@ed it up it up so now I am here.
I called this blog “Carrying the Fire” in reference to a book called The Road by Cormac McCarthy. The “Fire” in this book, as I interpret it (book interpretation is not really my bag) refers to a set of values that the father in the story is attempting to impart on his son. It is a mix of pragmatism and compassion that resonated with me.
I am a new father and I would wish to impart the same “Fire” on my son. I want to teach him that in a world that increasingly bad, it is possible and important to do good. In order to do this you have to position yourself properly. I’m not sure if this is simplistic or not but it makes sense to me. He is not quite ready for this message yet since he is only 10 months old and is still learning that electrical wires do not constitute a food group.
I also suspect that I will be launching a whole lot of opinion your way throughout the course of this blog. That means that you will get a little insight into what the “Fire” means to me. Feel free to comment, I am always open to others thoughts and ideas.
